Terms of Use

Wheel Life — telemetry, ride tracking, and community for electric unicycle riders.

Effective date: July 21, 2026 · Last updated: August 20, 2026

These Terms of Use (“Terms”) are a legal agreement between you and Airik Strandberg (“we”, “us”) covering your use of the Wheel Life app and its backend service (together, “the app”). By downloading, using, or creating an account in the app, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.

The short version Ride safely and at your own risk — the app is an instrument, not a safety system. Be decent to other riders: there is zero tolerance for objectionable content or abusive behaviour, and accounts that cross that line get removed. Your rides are yours. We can’t promise the app is perfect, and our liability is limited.

1. Safety — read this one

Riding an electric unicycle is inherently dangerous and can cause serious injury or death. You ride entirely at your own risk.

2. Who may use the app

You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age required in your country) to use the community features and to create an account. By creating an account you confirm you meet that age requirement, that the information you give us is accurate, and that you are not barred from using the service under any applicable law.

You are responsible for your account and for keeping your password secure. Tell us promptly if you believe someone else is using your account.

3. Acceptable use and content standards

The community features let you post rides, create clubs and group rides, and message other riders. You are responsible for everything you post or send (“your content”).

Zero tolerance There is no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive users. Content that violates this section may be removed, and accounts that post it may be suspended or terminated without notice.

You agree not to post, send, or share content that:

You also agree not to falsify ride data or manipulate leaderboards, territory, or badges — including by submitting rides you did not ride, or by fabricating telemetry.

4. Reporting, blocking, and moderation

Every rider, shared ride, and group ride in the app can be reported, and any rider can be blocked, from the “…” menu on their content or from their profile. Blocking is mutual and immediate: a blocked rider’s content disappears from your feed, leaderboards, and messages, and yours disappears from theirs.

We review reports of objectionable content and abusive behaviour and act on them — typically within 24 hours — by removing content, suspending or terminating accounts, or both. You can also reach us directly at wheellifeapp@gmail.com.

We may remove any content, or suspend or terminate any account, at our discretion, with or without notice, if we believe these Terms have been violated or that doing so protects our riders or the service. We are not obligated to pre-screen content, but we may.

5. Your content, and the rights you give us

Your content stays yours. You keep all ownership rights in the rides, photos, messages, and other content you create.

To operate the app, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, and display your content, and to show it to the riders you have chosen to share it with — for example, displaying a ride you post in the feed, or your result on a leaderboard. This licence exists only so that we can run the service, ends when you delete the content or your account (subject to reasonable backup retention), and does not let us sell your content or use it for advertising.

You confirm that you have the rights to the content you post, and that it does not violate these Terms or anyone else’s rights.

6. Other riders’ content

Content in the community is created by other riders, not by us. We do not endorse it and are not responsible for it. Group rides, clubs, routes, and advice you find in the app are organised and offered by riders — attending or following any of it is your decision and your risk.

7. Your privacy

Our Privacy Policy explains what the app collects and why, and forms part of these Terms. In short: your rides stay on your device unless you choose to share them, leaderboards sync numbers without your location, shared routes are trimmed to hide where you start and stop, and we never sell your data.

8. Third-party services

If you connect Strava, the rides you post there are sent to Strava and handled under Strava’s own terms and privacy policy. Maps and push notifications are provided by Apple on iOS and by Google on Android. If you obtained the app from Google Play, your download and updates are also governed by the Google Play Terms of Service. We are not responsible for third-party services, and your use of them is governed by their terms.

9. Price and availability

The app is currently free to use. We may change, suspend, or discontinue any part of the app — including community features — at any time. We may also set reasonable limits on storage, uploads, or usage to keep the service running for everyone.

10. Ending your use

You can stop using the app at any time, and you can delete your account and its data yourself — on iOS in Community → Profile → Delete Account, on Android in Settings → Account → Delete account. Deleting your account permanently removes your profile, shared rides, and group rides — rides stored locally on your device are unaffected.

We may suspend or terminate your account for violating these Terms, as described in section 4. Sections that by their nature should survive termination — including sections 1, 5, 11, 12, and 13 — do.

11. Disclaimer of warranties

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the app is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement.

We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free; that telemetry, alarms, distances, speeds, or battery estimates will be accurate; or that any defect will be corrected. Wheel Life is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or authorised by any wheel manufacturer, and support for any wheel model may be incomplete or incorrect.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of implied warranties, so some of the above may not apply to you.

12. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data, goodwill, or riding records, arising out of or relating to your use of the app — including any injury, death, or property damage arising from riding — whether based in contract, tort, negligence, strict liability, or any other theory, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability for all claims relating to the app is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us for the app in the twelve months before the claim, or US$50.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations of liability, so some of the above may not apply to you. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

13. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any claims, damages, losses, and reasonable legal fees arising out of your content, your use of the app, your riding, or your violation of these Terms or of anyone’s rights.

14. Apple App Store

This section applies only if you obtained the app from the Apple App Store. It does not apply to copies obtained from Google Play.

These Terms are between you and us only — not with Apple — and we, not Apple, are solely responsible for the app and its content. You also agree that:

15. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes we will update the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Continuing to use the app after an update means you accept the revised Terms.

16. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be brought in the state or federal courts located in California, and you and we consent to their jurisdiction — except that either of us may seek injunctive relief in any appropriate court. If you live somewhere whose law grants you the right to bring a claim locally, this section does not take that right away.

17. General

These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you and us about the app. If any provision is found unenforceable, the rest stays in force. Our not enforcing a provision is not a waiver of it. You may not assign these Terms; we may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
